Blogs can have multiple uses: They can be used to espouse opinions, to report on current events, to educate the masses, or even to spread gossip. My vision for Nikki’s Big, Passionate Life is to inspire you to live your life that way — big and passionately.
I’ve long lived a life that was below my own expectations. Somewhere across the past 15 years I became normal. Average. Predictable. Comfortable. All words that I despise. So in an effort to move outside of that zone of normalcy and into the realm of possibilities, I’ve decided to try some new things. And each week, I’ll tell you all about it right here.
Now I won’t be blabbing about my adventures just to put my business in the street! I’ll be doing it to inspire you. (Trust me: Anything I can do you can do better!) So I’m asking that you participate in this experiment in two ways: First, I need you to weigh in on my planned excursions – let me know what you’d like me to try. And second, I need you to jump in and try some things for yourself!
Let’s get started. Here are the activities that friends have suggested thus far…
- Date online
- Date a White guy
- Date a Latin guy
- Date an Asian guy
- Date a different guy every week
- Date a guy over 50
- Date a guy under 25 (Notice a theme??? I think my friends think I need to date more!)
- Learn to swim
- Run a 5K
- Run a marathon
- Sky dive
- Go hiking
- Go camping
- Go ATVing
- Travel to every continent
- Scuba dive
- Go snorkeling
- Go yachting (swanky!)
- Learn a new language
- Live in another country (maybe not next week!)
- Read the bible in one year
- Create a signature fragrance
- Create a signature cocktail (I’ll drink to that!)
- Create something with my hands, i.e., pottery, etc.
- Climb Mount Kilimanjaro
- Back pack through the rain forest
- Swim with dolphins
- Start a business
- Learn to knit or crochet (maybe not adventurous enough…)
- Write a book
- Live on $25 a week (the horror!)
- Drive cross country
- Take a dance class
- Take a pole dancing class (clutching my pearls!)
- Go on a game or reality show
So how do you like the list? 35 things for me to try. What’s missing? What’s lame and should be omitted? I’m depending on you to help me out. Please comment below with your opinions. I can’t wait to hear what you think!
In the meantime, celebrate life y’all!
Get onstage or try trapeze
Nikki, I didn’t know you created a blog. This is fantastic! And I love your experience-a-week plan. Guest bartending, taking a cooking class, submitting a freelance article to a magazine, or creating a short film and posting it on youtube might be fun. I’ve been thinking of #19 (interested in learning sign language?) and #33 for myself. Of course I think love is the key to happiness to #2 remains at the top of my list : ) Can’t wait to read more!!
Hi Nikki,
You I.C. Norcom ladies are awesome. My suggestions are : 1. Go to Cosmetology school, 2. Go on a mission’s trip aboard and 3. become an intern at a radio station.
Hey Nikki. Get yourself some beads while in NOLA… the old fashion mardi gras way. Add it to the list please!
Have fun 🙂
Go on an audition for commercial or walk-on role. I like the NOLA beads idea. Be crazy!!
How have you done with your list? If you are still working on it, I’d be interested in becoming your “partner in crime” for a few of them. I’m up for an adventure and the opportunity to no longer live an “average life.”
